colored jigs. Black bass poor and have started to roam creeks after bait
fish. Crankbaits imitating shad seem to be the best bet. Several bigger fish
have been taken along the rip rap near bridges using shallow cranks and mouth

Oct. 8. Elevation 4.3 below normal and steady. Water 72-79.
North/South Canadian Rivers slightly stained to clear. Gaines Creek off
colored/murky. Crappie fair on micro jigs black/chartreuse and green tubes in
deeper water 40-45 ft. near standing timber on the break line 14-22 ft. Tip
jigs with minnows work best around bridge pilings and brush early in the
morning. Best bet is brush piles fairly early and deeper areas later in the
afternoon. Black bass poor around brush piles, boat docks. Drop shots using,
small worms or finesse baits steep rocky areas. Otherwise, hit brush piles
with a smoke, sunfish or dark colored tube jig. Worm with red shad or black.
